MILAN'S DEFENCE PRAISE RONALDO

Maldini:

"I absolutely agree that he is one of the best five players in the world at this moment. He is fast, strong, he scores goals, he's good in the air and he's extremely inventive. But it is very difficult at any time to say who is the best player in the world.

"For me, the best player in the world is the one that determines the outcome of big games and who works hardest for his team. I don't really like to compare teams or players from different ages or generations or to say who is the best I have ever seen.

"We never man-mark; we have a different way of doing it," Maldini said. "Ronaldo is someone who moves around a lot anyway, so we will mark him zonally. That's normal for us. And if I have to mark him, I could do that. I'm getting on a bit, but I'm still quite fast."

Nesta:

"At this moment, Cristiano Ronaldo is on top form, But he can be stopped by being organised, by attacking him as soon as he gets on the ball. Playing at Manchester is hard - they have an amazing public which is easily aroused. The atmosphere in general will be 50% of the battle."

Cafu:

"Nobody was expecting such a victory over Roma. Not even United thought they could beat them 7-1. It was shocking. Actually, it was a surprise for everyone in football and sends a frightening message to the other three teams left in the competition. Right now, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best attackers in the world."
