Real have admitted to their interest in United's No. 2 Carlos Quieroz and he is expected to be announced as the new coach today.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said: "He (Queiroz) is one of the people we are interested in. His profile fits exactly with what we are looking for."

"The profile of Queiroz coincides with the one that Madrid are seeking,"

"We do not want a profile of a star but someone with a more strategic and tactical background and with more of an accent on the physical preparation. The team will be more powerful with a coach with these characteristics."

CQ is seen as the man to heal any rifts in the Real camp that have emerged following Beckham's arrival and the decision not to offer long-serving skipper Fernando Hierro a new contract. However it's believed that SAF doesn't want to lose him.

Ferguson highlighted Quieroz's influence as one of the major factors behind this year's title triumph.

And with the stats Sky Sports News published his win rate which is good in comparison to other coaches

Carlos 66% win rate

McClaren 60%

Kiddo 58%

SAF on his own 57%

There are no stats on Archie Knox but we can imagine!

Fergie says he that he is no rush to replace Carlos as 'he is very satisfied with the work Mike Phelan's has done'.

While Queiroz has all but said he's going. "This year has been very fruitful and I'm very grateful to Sir Alex Ferguson. I don't want to leave Manchester United on bad terms.

"The Madrid offer is like one of those trains which comes along once in your lifetime that you have to take."
