Bertie Vogts again:

"Fletcher played very well in the matches against Leicester
and Birmingham. Fletcher is only 19 but he speaks to the
other players and is not shy.

"When you step into a position after Beckham and Solskjaer,
you learn from them. When I watched him one year ago in the
League Cup he was looking like a young boy. Now his body has
developed and he is a young man now. A year ago it wasn't
clear whether he was going to play for the Irish Republic or
Scotland because he was eligible for both.

"He was in the Under-19s and when I spoke to him he said
that he felt Scottish and would only play for Scotland. Sir
Alex has told me he is free on the ball, skilful and he
plays in a lot of good crosses. He can play behind the
striker in the middle as well as wide.

"His best position is wide but maybe in three or four years
he will be the playmaker in the middle of the park, but at
the moment the position is closed for Colin Cameron. When
you're playing for Man United you can gain experience by
watching the big players there. He can learn from the
training sessions as well. He's very clever, an intelligent
young boy.”
