NATIONWIDE SHAKEDOWN

Vialli has followed Ray Wilkins out of Vicarage Road with former England and
Leicester manager Peter Taylor rumoured to be his replacement.

Huddersfield Town have sacked Lou Macari who was on holiday in Las Vegas
when he discovered he had been sacked by the West Yorkshire club.

From the Guardian:

'Macari had been watching South Korea's 1-0 win over Portugal to progress to
the second round of the World Cup on TV in his hotel room in the Nevada city.
And the decision to remove Macari and assistant Joe Jordan from their jobs
came as a surprise.

"The chairman phoned me only on Monday to ask about a player we might be
interested in signing," Macari told Sky Sports News.

The management team had been busy arranging pre-season games and
training programmes before going off on holiday.

"My brief last season was to get us back in the First Division and get the wage
bill down," added Macari. We even had to get rid of some players last season
when we were in a play-off position. I wasn't given any indication that the
board weren't happy with the job me and my staff had done. We were looking
forward to the new season. I'm disappointed. They have decided that Joe and
myself, for whatever reason, are no longer part of the football club."
