NESTA RUMOURS RUMBLE ON

Rumours in Italy claim that United have offered around £25 million for Nesta, which is more than Inter have said they would pay for the Italian defender. Inter and Juventus made a pact that they would not spend more than £17 million on Nesta, so news of United putting in a higher bid has not been welcomed.

Inter's sporting director Gabriel Oriali believes that the story may be a sneaky ruse by Lazio to hike up Nesta's price.

"If these are the conditions then it will become very difficult for any Italian club to support paying an amount of that sort. Clearly, the Manchester United proposal has to be confirmed but it would be difficult to sanction spending that amount."
