"I've never been through the agony of a derby defeat and I never want to," says Neville.
"I have spoken to the lads who were involved in that infamous 5-1 defeat in 1989 and that's not something I want to suffer. Anyone involved that day would have been shocked, devastated and embarrassed. I may never have been put through something like that but we know the consequences of losing and it doesn't bear thinking about.
"You just hope you are never part of a team that does lose to City. I've been very lucky to never taste defeat. I can't even recall being beaten by them when I was in the reserves or youth teams. And I never saw City win at Old Trafford when I was going as a fan."
