Newcastle Lodge Bid For Recent Manchester United Target Emmanuel Dennis

Newcastle United have reportedly submitted an offer to Belgian side Club Brugge for attacker Emmanuel Dennis, who has been previously linked with Manchester United.

The Nigeria international has impressed in the Champions League this season, making his name known as he scored twice against Real Madrid in a 2-2 draw at Santiago Bernabéu.

Having already signed goal-shy Joelinton for £35m in the summer, Newcastle are again in the market for an attacker as they aim to improve their options in the final third. Dennis certainly fits the mould as he can play either as an inside forward or as a number nine.

French Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon claims that the Magpies have made an offer for the player and may well take him from underneath Manchester United's nose.

The forward has scored eight goals this season - three more than Newcastle's top scorer Jonjo Shelvey, and a great deal more than their most prolific attacker Miguel Almiron, who has netted on just two occasions thus far.

Joelinton has really struggled in the north east since making his move from Hoffenheim in the summer, scoring just once in the Premier League. That means he has cost the Magpies £35m per goal. Not great.

Any attacking additions would likely be welcomed with open arms as a result. But some Toon supporters may not be so open to it, and it's understandable. They'd likely be a tad anxious due to their poor recruitment in recent years, with the previously mentioned Joelinton, along with the likes of Islam Slimani and Antonio Barreca all failing to meet expectation upon arrival at St. James' Park in recent years.

At 22, Dennis still has plenty of time to improve even further and has the potential to become a top player in the future. Maybe this could be the signing Newcastle have been waiting for.

One thing that is for sure, Steve Bruce has performed wonders with the limited options he has at his disposal. They shouldn't be doing as well as they are with their best attacking output scoring just twice.
