Mike Scanlon, Butt's football coach for three years, added: "Nicky was the same lad back then as he is now and he's never let his success change him.
"You know exactly what you're going to get with Nicky, he won't let you down.
"He was so focused as a teenager, he wouldn't let anything get in the way of his training — and that included girls. He didn't seem to care about anything else and when some of his friends were off doing other things I only saw one side of him — football and more football.
