‘IT IS not just the men of Highbury who are lacing their boots for a march on Europe. Arsenal Ladies are seeking glory too and tonight’s home leg against Samara, the Russian side, could see them progress into the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup for the first time. Arsenal hold a 2-0 advantage from the away leg and Ellen Maggs, their diminutive striker, has been taking advice from the club’s more illustrious spearhead, Thierry Henry.

"I’ve just done a photo-shoot with Thierry and he was really interested in our game," Maggs said. "The men’s first team are all sponsoring an Arsenal Ladies player this season and I’m proud that Thierry is backing me. He’s a hell of a striker. If I could be anything like him I’d be happy."’
