The French winger got his first taste of an English Premier League game when used as a second half substitute in the 2-0 home win against Blackburn and really should have scored a goal to mark his debut.

"Gabriel was a bit nervous when he came on," Sir Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports..

"It was only his second game in seven months, so you have to put it in perspective.

"But then he settled down and did well.

"He is not happy with himself and that is a good thing."
