"It's nice to get a run in the side.
"Each time I have been given a chance I have tried to grab it and that is what I am doing at the moment.
"The players in front of me have really helped since I came back into the team and our overall defensive record has been excellent.
"I am not taking anything for granted though. Tim did well on Tuesday, so I have to stay on my toes, make sure I perform in every game and not look too far ahead."
"Confidence is high at the moment, although it always is at Manchester United, even though we started off the season with too many draws," said Carroll.
"Having Rio Ferdinand back in the side has helped tremendously because he is such an exceptional player.
"We have also had a relatively settled back four, which has helped. We had four clean sheets on the trot going into the Portsmouth game as well, so the team as a whole, from front to back, is defending really well."
