OH GOD, WHO NEXT?

This from the Grauniad business section:

It was game on for Manchester United yesterday as a significant stake was
touted around the City and offered to a leading investment figure. As the
rumour swept through the market it prompted speculation that one of the
colourful figures who has been buying up shares in the Premiership football
club over the past few months, may be looking for an exit. The shares picked
up 1.75p to 232p.

The stake is not believed to belong to Irish racehorse magnates JP McManus
and John Magnier, who hold more than 23% of the business. Instead
speculation centred on Scottish mining entrepreneur Harry Dobson, who bought
his 6.5% for about 127p a share, or US billionaire Malcolm Glazer, owner of
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers American football team, who has almost 10%.

Either way the stake is said to be notifiable - more than 3% - and is
believed to be closer to 10%. Should the City figure decide to buy, it would
introduce yet another colourful individual to this ongoing saga.
