OLD BOYS UNITED

‘The mentality of the Manchester United players has been spot on,’ said Bryan Robson "Injuries are part and parcel of the game but while United were able to grind out results at the start of the season, Arsenal haven't done that in the final weeks of the season. The big turning point was when they came back from Madrid and went to Newcastle and won 6-2. That win sent out such a statement to Arsenal and the rest of the Premiership.’

"It carried the boys on because it was an unbelievable performance which showed such character after they had suffered such a massive setback, added Robson. "Once they had won that game, the confidence just shot through the squad and it was though they knew no-one was going to stop them."

Referring to Arsenal’s end of season collapse Frank Stapleton told MUTV that Arsenal did not deserve to win the League.

"It was mid-table form and it's not good enough to win a championship, the best teams always win the league and that is what has happened this time. United took six points off Newcastle, six off Liverpool, four off Chelsea and four off Arsenal, so they have done it against all the top teams."
