Speaking about the Newcastle match, Solskjaer is quoted in
the Sun as saying:

"For 45 minutes of that game it was probably one of the best
spells we have ever had in my time here. For that period
around half-time it is the best anyone has seen of us this
season.

"We have played a lot of home games that have been enjoyable
but in that half-hour, when we went from 1-0 to 6-1, it was
really funny because we were playing so well.

"It was not only quick football but fine football too. My
first goal was created by a beautiful pass from Ryan Giggs
and all I had to do was keep it down after I had chested it
because I knew I was onside.

"When you play on the right wing you need to make different
runs from when you are a striker, but I saw Olivier Bernard
was inside me and playing me on as I made the run.

"The important thing when playing in a team like this with
such good players is that you make sure you get in the right
positions because you know a pass will come. I was really
satisfied with my part in the second goal too.

"I felt Paul Scholes would score because he has scored some
fantastic goals for us and that was another one.

"And in a way it is better to make a goal like that one than
to score an ordinary goal yourself.

"It feels so good when you have to make a decisive pass for
such a goal. We won because we put our chances away and that
makes all the difference.

"We scored from the first three chances we had and doing so
quickly made it very difficult for them.

"I also think we have a better defence than people think.

"All four of us with the free roles in midfield had a
defensive job to do as well as the rest but it just goes to
show how you have ups and downs in football.

"We were so very high after the Liverpool win and then right
down again after Real Madrid but after this our confidence
is at the top again.

"But it is all about the chances we got against Newcastle.
We created them at St James' but didn't take the chances we
created against Real."
