O'SHEA – WE HAVEN'T SCORED ENOUGH GOALS

Last updated : 05 April 2005 By editor

John O’Shea, "We knew Blackburn were going to defend for their lives and be very disciplined. But we needed to be more clinical, and we weren't. Our goals scored column is not as good as it normally is for Manchester United. It is something we have to work on going into the semi-final. With the talent in our squad, we should have scored more goals.

"We have a battle on our hands for second spot. We have to win that. We cannot afford to let our minds drift towards the semi-final. We have been hoping Chelsea would slip up but they have just kept on winning.

"We did go on a great run ourselves. But the couple of games at the start of the season and a few draws when we were really close to Chelsea could have put a lot of pressure on them. That's what has cost us. The Champions League was disappointing as well. Now we have to make sure we finish the season strongly.

"Hopefully, if we finish second in the league and get an FA Cup medal, the squad we have, the talent, the freshness, the experience mean I can only see positives for next season."
