O'SHEA MAKES HIS MARK

After another first team outing yesterday Ferguson thinks he has found his future central defenders.

"John has done fantastically well,"

"I look at him and Rio, think of next season and think to myself - there's your partnership."

And with an attitude like this it's no wonder Fergie likes him. O'Shea on competition for places.

"I was set for a new defender coming in. I could tell Laurent had another season in him and I had a strong feeling he'd stay on.

"You can let it upset you and think you are hitting a brick wall and none of the bricks are being dislodged. A lot of young lads feel like that at times but if you let it get to you that's when itaffects your game.

"But you can look at it another way. It can fire your ambition. If you want to challenge them it can drive you on.

"It is going to be tough but the manager will give you a shot if you are good enough.
