Peter Schmeichel is expected to miss around six weeks of the new Premiership season after scans revealed damage to his knee was not as bad as first thought. King Div said:

"He doesn't have to go in plaster and he will not need an operation. We still have two very good goalkeepers. Nick Weaver is on line to be training within the next two weeks."

Sheep striker Robbie Fowler will be out of action for about two months after having a hip operation.

And Gazza will not be playing 'soccer' in the USA this season after DC United decided not to sign the ageing Geordie.
