"Personally I'm very proud of myself. I feel sorry and very grateful to coach Hiddink, but I think I can return his favour by becoming a better player.

"When I wore the United kit, I didn't feel it was real. But when I went to the ground, I felt proud that I will be playing for such a top club.

However understandably he said:

"The joy that I felt during last World Cup finals could not be matched by anything else.

Speaking about language difficulties, Park continues:

"In the daily life with the players I get by. But on the pitch it is important I can speak the language soon. Also Mr Ferguson has an accent I find hard to understand..."

"He is by far the best player Korea has. I would have loved to have kept him here.

"But once Manchester United had come in for him, he had made his mind up. Park is probably the best Asian player I have ever seen in Europe. And I am sure he will master the language problem at Old Trafford one day, because he might be quiet but he is very intelligent.

"Park comes from a totally different culture. Sir Alex will have to try and understand him like we did."

Gus Giddink:

"The language and communication was a disaster here in Holland when we signed him.

"I had to have an interpreter right next to me before, during and after matches. He could only speak two words of English when he arrived."

"You have to be tough, because they must be able to communicate with the other players. The trouble with Park is that he is also a very shy person.
