The reigning PFA player of the year controversially left Arsenal during the summer transfer window and joined serial Premier League winners Manchester United in the search of the silverware that has eluded him for so long in North London.

Van Persie has enjoyed a successful start to his Old Trafford career and has made a huge impact on the pitch. The month of September was an exceptional good one for the Dutch international and it would appear you all agree!

It started with an unforgettable match away against promoted Southampton. United fell behind early on after a headed goal by Lambert, that was cancelled out six minutes later after Van Persie took the ball down on his chest and shot across goal. United again fell behind this time Schneiderlin heading home. United were awarded a penalty which was taken by RVP but Saints keeper Kelvin Davis made the save, leaving United still trailing. But with five minutes to go up pops Van Persie to stroke home an equaliser for The Red Devils. One minute into added time after the 90 Nani swung in a corner for RVP to get on the end of and nod home to complete the comeback, scoring the third goal for his hat-trick in the process.

Three weeks later United traveled to Anfield. RVP's first match against Liverpool in the red of Manchester United. He made it a game to remember by scoring the winning goal, a penalty on the 81st minute, placed expertly into the corner of the net.

RVP was instrumental to Manchester United maintaining their push for the Premier League title during September with four goals in five appearances and that is why he is your PFA fans' player of the month!
