Danny Welbeck nominated for Barclays sponsored PFA Young Player of the Year 2012

Danny Welbeck started the season off by partnering Wayne Rooney in the Manchester United attack against rivals Manchester City in the Charity Shield and then got his 1st league start against West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the season.

He opened the scoring in the game against Tottenham and then provided the assist for the 2nd goal of the game, and his name was on the scoresheet in the following fixture against Arsenal, but soon after he picked up a hamstring injury which sidelined him for several weeks.

Welbeck returned in September and featured in the Champions League game against Basel FC scoring twice and continued this good form by netting in the next game at Old Trafford against Norwich City.

Over the Christmas period he opened the scoring against Fulham in Manchester United's 5-0 win at Craven Cottage and then scoring again against Manchester City in the FA Cup third round.

The start of 2012 saw more goals for Welbeck as he scored against Bolton and netted the winner against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium.
