PHIL THOMPSON has been branded football's sorest loser on the eve of Liverpool's Worthington Cup crunch with Sheffield United.

Blades assistant boss Kevin Blackwell laid into his Kop counterpart following Thompson's petulant touchline antics after the semi-final, first leg 13 days ago.
Thompson pulled his arm away when Blackwell offered a handshake at the end of United's shock 2-1 victory over Gerrard Houllier's stuttering stars at Bramall Lane.

Houllier's No2 then told his players not to swap shirts with their high- flying First Division rivals.

Now Blackwell has revved up tonight's already volatile second leg at Anfield by revealing:

"Thompson badmouthed everybody in our dugout, including the apprentices who were left shocked."

"He kept saying 'Wait until we get you back to our f****** place'.

"His mood seemed to change after we scored the two goals and I told him to be a bit more magnanimous”.
