PLEASE DON'T GO

The fact that a bid has been accepted has not made Ted Beckham change his mind about where his son should ply his trade.

'I don't want him to go,' said Ted Beckham. 'I shall tell him not to go there. I want him to stay at Manchester United.'

He added: 'I don't want him to go just because a certain person wants him to go,'

IMUSA Chairman Jules Spencer says the transfer must not be for cash.

'If he is being sold for financial reasons, there will be an outcry,'

'If he is being sold to strengthen the team then most supporters will back Ferguson's judgement.'

Mr. Spencer also added that the deal was 'a long way off'.

He added 'As I understand it, Laporta is quite a way behind in the polls.

'Then, secondly, it is whether it is acceptable to David Beckham to join a club that's not in Europe next year and what have you.'

Oliver Houston, from the Shareholders' Association: 'I am surprised that the club have seemingly accepted a bid from Barcelona, Beckham won't get Champions League football there so you feel he may well end up somewhere else.'
