PLEASE DON'T GO

From The MIrror:

One player, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of Fergie's reaction: "David is an extremely popular player at United. He's a world-class player and we don't want him to go anywhere.

"He's extremely down about the whole situation. He loves United and he has told a few of the lads who have got hold of him in America that if does have leave United it will be against his wishes."

"A few of the lads have texted and spoken to David in America. He's very appreciative of the support and knows the vast majority of us want him to stay at the club.

"I've no idea what he will do though, because once United accepted a bid for him, it's clear they no longer feel he is an important part of their plans.

"But David can be very stubborn and with the support from his team-mates, don't rule out him staying here." It has also emerged that sackfuls of letters have been arriving at Old Trafford since the affair blew up.

"It's proved to be a very unpopular decision among most of the squad and the implications of David Beckham's sale is a major concern to the players.

"If United can sell a player like Beckham then no one is safe here. Who is going to be the next player out of the door?

"For the life of me I can't understand why David has been put up for sale.

"It's difficult to defend it as being for footballing reasons when he's a world-class player who could probably walk into any club side in the world.

"It doesn't take a genius to work out that Fergie has tired of the other things in Beckham's life but it will be same wherever he goes. Will the next club just dump him if they are tired of the media hype around him?

"You can't fault his commitment on the field, the other things don't seem to distract him. Of course other players wouldn't enjoy the same attention but then we are not David Beckham and he seems comfortable with it."
