PRAISE FROM A LEGEND

"The Busby Babes were a very good team, a very promising
team but obviously that was all destroyed. But in football
everything continues, after the accident United have
recovered. They haven't forgotten it but they have got back
to where they were.

"Manchester United have built on their traditions, this
current team was built on those same traditions, neither
side has ever turned their backs on those traditions.

"This time there are match winners on both sides. When we
first played United in the late 50s there were players on
both sides who could win games on their own, and for this
tie coming up the same things applies.

"It's 2003 and we can look at the teams are see exactly the
same talents and qualities.

"To compare individual talents between now and the 50s is
dangerous but what you can say is that in one major respect
both sides then and now have wonderful match winners.

“I feel this time United are a different proposition, Real
will need to take a good lead to Old Trafford.

"That would be advisable, but in Europe you never know, home
teams are more likely to win but it's not an exact science,
in the European Cup it's just as likely to lose at home and
win away.

"But we need to take as great an advantage possible when you
are at home to bring something to the away game, United have
been excellent in the competition this season, scoring lots
of goals and being outstanding at home."
