PSG & Lyon considering Anthony Martial bids

Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon are both considering moves for wantaway Manchester United forward Anthony Martial in January.

Martial's agent recently revealed the Frenchman is unhappy with his limited role at United this season and hopes to leave the club once the transfer window opens next month.

A handful of sides have been linked with the 26-year-old, with Barcelona often touted as potential suitors, but RMC Sport expect plenty of interest from Martial's homeland of France.

Among his suitors are PSG, who were looking at Martial back in the summer amid uncertainty over the future of Kylian Mbappe.

Such a move was not necessary back then, but with Mbappe inching ever closer to the exit door and continued rumours over the future of Mauro Icardi - Juventus are thought to be keen - PSG could reignite their interest in Martial.

It is suggested that a loan deal would be most likely, with Martial intrigued about the future at United once the new permanent manager is found in the summer.

Lyon, where Martial began his career and made four appearances in the 2012/13 season, are also interested as they look to replace former talisman Memphis Depay, who jetted off to Barcelona in the summer.

Title challengers last year, Lyon have tumbled all the way down to 13th in Ligue 1 this year, with the loss of Memphis' goals hitting them particularly hard. They are keen to find a new forward and are ready to send a proposal Martial's way.

However, there is an acceptance that Lyon might not have enough about them at the minute to land Martial. Financial restrictions are an issue, while the fact that the team is not competitive this season won't work in their favour either.

Martial hopes to join a top side to boost his profile and increase his chances of making Didier Deschamps' France squad for the 2022 World Cup.
