Michael Stewart completed his one-year loan move to his boyhood heroes earlier this week after writing off a reputed 30% of his £12,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford.
Craig Levein (Hearts Manager): "I never thought we could get anywhere near his wages and I never made any calls to try and get him.
"I got a phone call from Michael's agent, George Wright, and I told him I had no money left, but then he told me Michael was prepared to finance the deal. Nobody is more surprised than me, to get a call right out of the blue and to bring a player in of Michael's quality is a bonus."
