United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that the young Brazilian full-back sustained a hamstring injury during the 4-2 win against The Rams on Tuesday night.

"It's a hamstring injury, he'll be out for a few weeks," Fergie said after the match.

Defensive partner Jonny Evans also aggravated an ankle injury during the game and is likely to be sidelined for at least a week whilst midfielder Anderson will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the ankle injury he sustained late in the game.

"Anderson is going to have to go for an X-ray, there is some damage, we don't know exactly what," Fergie added.

"Evans has had a recurrence of his ankle injury which has been troubling for a few weeks now, but hopefully he'll be OK in a week's time."
