Ralf Rangnick has insisted he is not concerned about the prospect of adapting his system to suit Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rangnick is known for wanting his teams to play a high-octane, pressing game and since his arrival was announced Ronaldo's suitability for these tactics have been questioned.
No Premier League striker has registered less pressures per 90 minutes than Ronaldo this season, although he was praised for his work rate in United's 3-2 win over Arsenal on Thursday.
Rangnick was sat in the stands for that victory and speaking before his first game in the dugout against Crystal Palace on Sunday he revealed his plans for the veteran forward.
"You always have to adapt your style or your idea of football to the players you have available, not vice versa," Rangnick said.
"Having seen Cristiano yesterday in the second-half at the age of 36, an amazing top professional. At his age, I've never seen a player who is still that physically fit. He's still a player who can easily make the difference.
"So yes, it's about how we can develop the whole team not only Cristiano. We play in the most competitive league in the world so we need all the players on board.
"What I saw from Cristiano yesterday, he is more than willing to do that, to put his input into the team. His team-mate will have to do the same."
Ronaldo himself also seems excited to work with his new manager. On Thursday he paid tribute to departing caretaker boss Michael Carrick, as well as welcoming Rangnick to Old Trafford.
"Michael Carrick was a class act as a player and he can become a great coach as well. Nothing is impossible for this guy," he wrote.
"Personally, I’m proud to have played with him by my side as well as with him as a manager on our bench. But now it’s time to welcome Mister Ralf Rangnick to the wheel…Let’s get started."
