Ralf Rangnick to get '€10m bonus' if he convinces Erling Haaland to join Man Utd

Ralf Rangnick's contract with Manchester United is believed to contain a bonus of €10m (£8.5m) if he convinces Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to join the club.

The incoming interim boss has a good relationship with Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, and was instrumental in the deal that took Haaland from Malmo to Salzburg in 2019 when he was the global sports director for Red Bull.

United hope that Rangnick's presence may give them a boost in their pursuit of Haaland, and according to Bild, there is also a nice cash incentive for Rangnick to get a deal over the line.

A cool £8.5m is up for grabs if Rangnick can sign Haaland ahead of other suitors like Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The report suggests that Haaland only ended up at Borussia Dortmund in 2020 because Rangnick was not involved in the negotiations and could not convince the striker to join RB Leipzig instead - something which the former director regrets to this day.

United are already preparing their pursuit of Haaland at the end of the season and are claimed to be preparing an offer of around £100m to land the Norwegian.

Given he comes with a release clause of £63m, it's likely that that figure contains bonuses for agent Mino Raiola and the elder Haaland, both of whom will be paid handsomely regardless of where the striker ends up.

Rangnick is keen to use his Red Bull ties to aid United in the coming months. 90min has learned that he is looking at Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele as a possible January recruit.

Midfielder Amadou Haidara is also on Rangnick's shortlist, with the 23-year-old being touted by some as a replacement for Paul Pogba.
