RANGERS

Dave McPherson believes the Rangers players who take on Manchester United on Wednesday night are about to embark on one of the most memorable experiences of their lives.

The former Rangers and Hearts defender was part of the Ibrox side, which dumped Leeds United out of the Champions League in the last Battle of Britain between the champions of England and Scotland.

He said:
"You never experience anything like that again in your life once you've been through it. There is so much hype drummed up from the minute the draw is made that it becomes an unforgettable experience. That had a lot to do with the atmosphere - there were hardly any Leeds supporters at Ibrox and the home supporters created an intimidating atmosphere."

He added:
"The crowd can make a massive difference to the game and Rangers need the crowd to be intimidating. I know it's said a lot but a noisy crowd really can give Rangers something extra."
