Real Madrid are trying to unsettle the United camp ahead of the CL quarterfinals by claiming they have made David Beckham their number one summer target.
Real Madrid's Managing Director has also confirmed Real's interest. He said

"The way Real Madrid have pulled off the biggest transfer market coups of the last few seasons, Beckham looks like the next big project for us.''

"I don't want to speak more about Beckham at the moment because we have a huge Champions League contest against his team. I don't want to be accused of saying things which heighten the tension around those games."

"I'd prefer we only speak about football until these two games are out of the way."

United travel to Spain for the first leg against Madrid on April 8 with the return at Old Trafford on April 23.

Beck's didn't help stop the speculation as he said he'd be honoured to play in Madrid.

"Any player would be honoured to be spoken about by Real Madrid."

"They have great players and a great tradition."

Becks' put pen to paper last May on a new contract that finishes in 2005but the press are reporting a bid of around £40 million could persuade United into talking business.
