REAL INVINCIBILITY TAKES A KNOCK

Real Sociedad convincingly beat Real 4-2 last week and Barcelona came close to stealing maximum points in Saturday’s derby clash at the Bernabeu.

Could it be that the mighty Madrid are losing their grip? - We can but hope.

"There are days when the players are less inspired," Real sporting director Jorge Valdano

told Reuters after the match against Barca. "They are not able to shine and make mistakes and that is something that happened today."

Real coach Vicente del Bosque added:

"It's true we lacked the control of the game because there were a lot of interruptions and there were too many fouls."

Makelele also commented on Barca's strong-arm tactics.

"They heated up the atmosphere on the pitch because they knew that if they let us relax we could destroy them. It was a fair result because they were more intelligent than us."
