REAL MESS

Speaking after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Espanyol, Camacho accepted full responsibility for Real's poor form.

"I like to play football and I have not seen that Real Madrid have done that," said Camacho. The coach is the person in charge of all the games that are lost, that is my reading of it."

This from The Guardian:

'José Antonio Camacho has resigned as manager of Real Madrid after his side's 3-0 humiliation at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League and their 1-0 defeat at Espanyol on Saturday night.

'According to reports on Spanish radio last night, Camacho handed in his resignation during a meeting with Madrid's president Florentino Pérez yesterday. Pérez is understood to have refused to accept the offer but the pair are expected to hold further talks today and it appears unlikely that Pérez can keep the notoriously strong-willed Camacho from walking.

'Both Cadena Ser, which is extremely close to Pérez, and Spanish state radio reported that Camacho had yesterday announced his intention to leave, amid talk of crisis and poor dressing-room relations at the club.

'State radio called Pérez but he refused to comment, although he did confirm that he had met the coach. The content of the conversation, Pérez said, would remain private.

'The station then announced that it was able to "confirm that José Antonio Camacho had tendered his resignation".'
