RED ISSUE EXCLUSIVE - ROONEY CASE UPDATE

We have learnt that Patrick Hanrahan, the student at the centre of the Wayne Rooney controversy, has been spirited out of Manchester by the Sun as there are fears for his safety. He is currently sitting in a hotel somewhere in the Midlands until things blow over.

The good news is that the Mirror are preparing a pro-Rooney story for tomorrow, and our source tells us that Rooney is extremely unlikely to be charged with anything - and if he were a betting man he'd put his money on Hanrahan being charged with wasting police time before Rooney has to answer for anything.
