Harry Redknapp is hoping to use the memories of beating United to spur Portsmouth on in tomorrow's game.

"We certainly need a repeat of our previous home results against United," said Redknapp. "But if not we just have to keep going.

"For sure, though, United are not going to help us. I'm a friend of Sir Alex but he has his own priorities to look after.

"They are a fantastic team, and always have been, but we have beaten them at home two years in a row and we have to believe we can beat anyone. We have to steam into them, work hard and get at them. It is the only way.

"We have to draw on those games from the past. They are history but we must have a go, stick our chances away and defend well."
