The Reds boss says that things will only improve for United and they will go from strength to strength.

And United have the chance to take their 20th title tonight by beating Aston Villa at Old Trafford, thanks to City being hammered at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Fergie believes that the team he has got together at the moment will only improve and go on to win numerous trophies as the side matures with age.

Ferguson said to reporters: “There is enough youth in the team to improve.

“We have a reasonable group of young players in Shinji Kagawa, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Rafael, Fabio will be back from loan at QPR, Alex Buttner, David De Gea, Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Chicharito.  They’re all in a young age group that can last quite a few years and we expect improvement from the younger players in the team.”

But even if United pull off a win against Villa tonight, the trophy will not be handed over until the last home game of the season which is against Swansea City on 12th May.
