RIDICULOUS

Tord Grip is the latest to compare Eric Cantona and Henrik Larsson.

He said: “Cantona and Larsson both score important goals and you could argue Cantona was also a team player. But that is where the similarities end.

“Larsson is timid, he has no ego at all and he doesn't shout at anyone on the pitch or off it. He is a very quiet man.

“He was like that in 1994 when I was part of Sweden's coaching team and we won the bronze medal at the World Cup. He was never full of himself.”

He does believe that Larsson will work well with Wayne Rooney

“From what I have seen so far, it will be a winning combination.

“One day, when he is older perhaps, Rooney will want to play more like Larsson and he will have the chance now to learn how to do it.

“Larsson will have a great time in England and score a lot of goals with Rooney as his partner.

“It works best when you have a player like Larsson to get on the end of Rooney's work, using such expert movement in the area to score.

“If Henrik has the opportunity to play the rest of the English season with United I think he should take it.”

Meanwhile United's favourite veteran has said he will let Larsson inspire him to play on for longer.

"One of the best parts of the game for me was being able to watch Henrik from the bench before coming on," said Solskjaer. "I was really excited by that.

"I've been so impressed with him since his first training session with us.

"His goal was tremendous, the way he controlled it and put it away. He's two years older than me but watching him has inspired me to keep going as long as I can."
