RIJKAARD WANTS TO KEEP PUYOL

Barca coach Frank Rijkaard:

“Puyol is an important player for our team and I want him to
stay at Barcelona, I can confirm that. There are some
rumours I've been made aware of which say a club in England
are interested in Puyol. But that's just what it is,
rumours, because there's been no official contact.

“There are debts at our club, as everyone knows, and we've
had to change a lot of things. For instance, we have a lot
of players who have had to resign contracts for less money
than before because the club is in debt. But all the players
on tour in England with us have accepted that and that's a
good starting point to build for the future.”

However Barcelona press secretary Juanho Castillo has said:

"There is no deal. United are interested in the player but
we are not interested in selling him. However we will always
listen to any offers that are made. No-one at the club wants
him to go but everyone is available if the offer is good
enough."
