RIO STAYING SAYS GILL

With United seemingly linked with every available defender in Europe Ferdinand's exit seems only a matter of time but Gill has told MUTV that the man who put his England ambitions above the interests of his club is staying in M16.

"Rio has done a lot of good community work and I have had numerous letters as to his approach in those areas and he is doing a fantastic job. When he comes back it will be like signing a new Rio Ferdinand again in September and I am sure that once again he will prove he is one of the best defenders in world football and we will be delighted to have him back."

So it appears that the Chief Executive is happy to continue paying his bloated salary so long as he visits Pendlebury Childrens' Hospital every so often.
