ROBBO CAN'T SEE ANY PROBLEMS

Bryan Robson:

"I don't think there is a problem in midfield anyway. Nobody
was moaning when United beat Bolton 4-0 on the opening day
and nobody was talking about problems with United's
creativity when they beat Newcastle at St James' Park.

“Of course, Paul Scholes will be missed because he's a top
class player but there is still plenty of invention in
United's first team to make up for that. And United didn't
rely totally on David Beckham and Seba Veron to create all
their goals anyway. I agree that maybe Eric Djemba Djemba
isn't in the mould of an inventive midfielder.

“He provides something different. He's a get it, give and go
midfielder. Eric keeps it simple and doesn't complicate
things. But Kleberson has certainly got a decent pass in
him. He's a World Cup winner and has proved on the highest
stage that while he can get stuck in he can also be a
provider. And then there's Cristiano Ronaldo. You can't tell
me he's not inventive! You can't judge him totally on the
brilliant 30 minutes against Bolton but you have to say he
was absolutely terrific.

“I am sure that more and more of that will come out given
the time. I know Sir Alex has great faith in him and will
want to nurture him because he's only 18 but sometimes
situation dictate that you have to abandon plans a bit.
People might be going on about a supposed lack of creativity
in the last couple of games but when we come to judge the
new boys at the end of the season I think you might be
looking at a different viewpoint entirely."
