"I bet Kieran cannot believe the six months he's had and he has put himself in the frame for a World Cup place next summer.
"Kieran - and his dad - are having a meeting with Sir Alex to see where his career will go with Manchester United.
"They know there is an open door here if they think it is beneficial for Kieran to have another year out playing first-team football.
"Only Sir Alex can tell Kieran whether he is going to get a first-team chance - and it is a risk because he is going in against Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney who can play in his position.
"You would have to say that Kieran's best option is to come back here where he has a great chance of playing first-team football week-in and week-out.
"That would give him a better chance of getting to the World Cup."
