"Rooney is a dangerous forward, but he does not have the consistency to be number one worldwide," he told skysports.com.
"He has one excellent match, two ordinary ones and three bad ones which is not the form of a star. He's still in the adaptation phase at Manchester United. I am not worried about Rooney or any other striker in the world. I play against the best and the only thing that bothers me is my performance."
"The pressure to be a superstar could to harm him because he is still young," he continued. "In any case he has already achieved a lot. In two years he could be a 'crack' [star player]."
