"I can understand why we're constantly being linked with him because he's an exceptional young player and he's English. But we like a lot of young players in England.
"At the moment we're concentrating on preparations for the season. This time last year Louis Saha wasn't on the agenda but as we moved through the season it became clear we needed to strengthen that particular position and he became available.
"Talk of £30m to £50m for one player is just not on for us because as well as the fee you've got to write in the player costs and then the salary.
"One of the great strengths of United since it was floated is that it has been run sensibly from a financial perspective. Our intention is that no more than 50 per cent of turnover should go on wages."
