ROSSI DOESN'T RATE ROONEY

Italian World Cup legend Paolo Rossi doesn't think Wayne Rooney has done enough yet to prove he is on his way to greatness.

“Rooney has yet to prove he is a great player,” Rossi said.

“We are used to making judgements early on regarding certain players. A great player is Zinedine Zidane, who has had a fantastic career.

“Rooney is young and has shown good things but he is still not a great player.”

“He lacks maturity but has plenty of time to improve,” said Rossi.

“A great player shows his worth in major tournaments.”

He then had a little swipe at England.

“I expected a lot from England in terms of play,” He continued

“I had considered them among my favourites to win the title before the tournament but I have to admit that I didn't like the way they played throughout the tournament.

“They had the best team of the past 20 years, they have had injuries especially up front but I really expected much more from them, I have been disappointed.”
