The player's agent Andrea Pastorello confirmed that talks were underway.
"We are still negotiating," Pastorello told Sky, "We haven't found an agreement yet because there are a few details to be ironed out. Until everything is signed and sealed there is always the fear that everything will fail. But I am confident an agreement will be agreed."
