Man Utd legend Roy Keane doubts that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man to lead the club forward.
United were beaten 2-0 by rivals Man City at Old Trafford on Saturday, with the hosts failing to lay a glove on their rivals and the scoreline could have been far more embarrassing.
Despite signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho in the summer, United have struggled this season. And Keane admits that while former teammate Solskjaer has faced intense scrutiny since becoming manager, he does not believe the Norwegian is up to the task anymore.
"Ole seems to have been under pressure since he walked into the club and that isn't going to go away because from the first day he got the job, people didn't think he was up to it because of his track record and his CV at Cardiff, which was a tough job," Keane said on Sky Sports after the derby.
"Ole has to take responsibility, of course he does. I've defended Ole for the last one or two years but he's the manager and he and his staff need to get more out of these players.
"Man Utd are in a bad place, but there is a way out of it. Is Ole the man to do it? Huge question mark. I hope he is but it is more hope than belief."
While these comments came post-game, Keane had said at half-time that he had already given up on the players because of the awful defending leading to City's second goal.
Luke Shaw allowed a cross to pass him by as he believed it would sail out for a goal kick, only for Bernardo Silva to sneak in behind him and finish at David de Gea's near post.
"Look at Shaw and De Gea. What chance have you got in this game? I've been cross with these fellas for years," Keane said.
"I give up on these players. These are international defenders. I can't understand the defending. I give up."
