RUUD LOVES SCOUSERS

Ruud van Nistelrooy has praised Everton's supporters for their sporting attitude towards Manchester United on Sunday.

"I think they are great fans," said van Nistelrooy.

"The way they supported their team was amazing and they also showed big heart and class to applaud us for winning the championship. That is the way football should be and I thank the fans for that."

United communications chief Paddy Harverson revealed that it was Everton's players who made a special request to the Premiership to be allowed to form a guard of honour as Sir Alex Ferguson's side walked out to receive their medals.
