Gill said: "The speculation is frustrating but the key people, Sir Alex Ferguson, Ruud and the board, know that he will be with us next season. The level of reported interest shown by other clubs in Ruud shows what a great player he is and what an asset he is to us.
Van Nistelrooy himself added: "It just carries on, all these transfer rumours about me signing for Real. I still haven't found the source, but I think it all comes from Spain.
"I really don't care what people claim and say about me going to Madrid. I just know it is not true. The manager knows it is not true, the players know it is not true, but the fans are getting more and more restless because of all these persisting transfer rumours.
"They really do keep worrying that I will leave United. If I order a pizza I get asked - I hate the situation, because the fans don't need to worry like that. There is nothing going on and I was very much aware of what I was doing when I signed a new contract with United until the summer of 2008. I am very happy with that contract, the club is very happy too. Give me one good reason why I should leave."
Even Dick Advocaat thinks the story is bollocks:
"As far as I know, Ruud's just signed a contract at United for another four years," said the Dutch boss.
"He's happy there, the manager's happy with him, everybody's happy with him - so why would he go? In my opinion, Ruud is the best striker around. It's incredible how he is playing. He is a gift from God. He works his socks off and you can see that he's desperate to get the result he wants - to get into the final and score more goals."
