SAF confirms De Gea has what it takes

The pressure of being Fergie?s number 1 must be hard to handle at times. De Gea has looked wobbly and nervous in some games but is starting to find some impressive form.

Sir Alex was reported to have been looking for a replacement, as De Gea?s mistakes were proving costly. But the doubts over his future have now banished.

His character and physicality since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011 have improved massively.

He?s no longer the flimsy, inconsistent let down that probably would have taken all the blame if United didn?t grab the championship this year.

Rotating with Lindegaard early on in the season must have been the wake up call he needed.

He?s finally cemented the number 1 shirt and is starting to follow in the footsteps of some of United?s goalkeeping legends.
