SAINT NICHOLAS ON THE MEND

"I was away with England, played the game on the Saturday and when I woke up on the Monday or Tuesday my ankle had ballooned and gradually got worse. We decided to put a camera in there to see what was what and they sorted out a few bits and bobs in there. I didn't know I'd done it during the game."

"It's frustrating but it comes to every player. I've been lucky over the years with injury, so you just have to get on with it. It's hard, but it's part and parcel of being a footballer. You might be a bit down in the morning, but you come here and see lads who have been out for six or seven months, and you realise you're actually quite lucky. It's just a case of being patient and doing what the physio tells you to do, mainly upper body stuff."

Now he's looking forward to regaining his first team place:

"I've just started swimming this week, and I've been doing weights just to keep myself busy. Then in eight or nine days I can start walking on my foot again."
